World Canvas ("the App") is an interactive web application that lets you explore countries around the world by giving it prompts. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding that data.

01Information We Collect

1.1 Prompts You Submit

When you type a prompt into the prompt bar, your text is sent to Google's Gemini API (via a server-side edge function) so we can generate answers about the countries you are exploring.

1.2 Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics 4 traffic analytics. Google Analytics may collect the following information automatically:

  • Anonymized/truncated IP address
  • Referring website or campaign parameters
  • General geographic location (city / country level)
  • Device category (desktop, tablet, mobile)

Google Analytics does not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or physical address.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not require account creation or login.
  • We do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information.
  • We do not use advertising trackers or sell your data.

02How We Use Your Information

  • Answering your prompts — Prompts are forwarded to the Gemini API to generate the country-level answers you see on the map.
  • Improving the App — Anonymized analytics data helps us understand how the App is used so we can improve performance and add features.

03Third-Party Services

Google Gemini API

Your prompts are processed by Google's Gemini large language model. Google's use of this data is governed by the Gemini API Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

Google Analytics

Analytics data is collected and processed by Google. You can learn more about how Google uses this data at How Google Uses Information from Sites That Use Our Services.

Supabase

We use Supabase to host the edge function that communicates with the Gemini API. Supabase's privacy practices are described in the Supabase Privacy Policy.

04Cookies & Local Storage

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (e.g., _ga, _ga_*) to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. These cookies contain randomly generated IDs and do not include personally identifiable information.

The App itself does not set additional cookies or store personal data in your browser's local storage.

05Data Retention

  • Prompts: Retention by Google under the Gemini API is governed by Google's own data retention policies.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics data is retained for the default period configured in our Google Analytics property. After this period, aggregated data may still be available, but user-level data is automatically deleted.

06Your Choices

  • Block cookies — Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking cookies may affect your experience on other websites.
  • Do Not Track — We respect your browser's Do Not Track signals; however, Google Analytics' handling of DNT is determined by Google.

07Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be updated.
